Thatcham Youth have had the best summer offering a whole range of free activities for young people in Thatcham. Throughout the summer programme we have engaged with 525 young people, plus many more at our youth clubs.
We kicked off with our ever popular Family Fun Day, the day was fantastic, even if the rain limited the sport we could offer! We ran a range of arts & crafts, archery, bouncy castles & where joined by West Berkshire Young Carers who ran activities too! We then moved on to our Movie Morning which saw a screening of Peter Rabbit, then had a great Reptile Handling session courtesy of Berkshire Reptile Encounters and rounded off the summer with a Craft Morning. Sadly we were unable to run our Roller Disco event, but that has been rescheduled to the October half term!
Talking about the events, our Head of Youth Activities Dan said, “After almost 18 months of not being able to operate our free school holiday activities, it was great to be able to offer this expanded range of events. We understand how difficult it can be for children, young people & their families to find things to do during the holidays, so our free activities play a major role in supporting those people. It’s also a great chance for people to come and see what things Thatcham Youth can offer, with our regular youth groups. A massive thank you to our team of volunteers who have put in a total of over 90 hours for the activities. I sincerely hope everyone enjoyed the activities and hope to see lots of people back in the future.”
The activities also played a part in the bigger offering to Thatcham’s young people, where Thatcham Youth joined up with Berkshire Youth & RMD Adventure Learning to offer those aged 11+ access to a range of fun & engaging activities.
